# Supported EIPs

> Which Ethereum upgrades BOT Chain supports, including EIP-1559, EIP-4844 and EIP-7702, and which EVM version to compile for.

Check which Ethereum features you can use on BOT Chain and which EVM version to compile your contracts for.

## Why it matters

Solidity compilers target a specific EVM version. If you compile for a newer version than the chain supports, your contract can deploy and then fail at runtime with an "invalid opcode" error. Picking the right target avoids that.

## Compile for Cancun

Set your compiler's EVM version to **`cancun`**. It works on both networks and with every Solidity version from 0.8.24.

<CodeGroup>
  ```toml foundry.toml theme={"dark"}
  [profile.default]
  evm_version = "cancun"
  ```

  ```js hardhat.config.js theme={"dark"}
  export default {
    solidity: {
      version: "0.8.28",
      settings: {
        evmVersion: "cancun",
      },
    },
  };
  ```
</CodeGroup>

`prague` also works on BOT Chain (tested 2026-10-01). **Don't use `osaka`.** BOT Chain doesn't support the Osaka upgrade yet: we ran the Osaka `CLZ` opcode on both networks on 2026-10-01 and it failed with "invalid opcode". Recent Solidity releases may default to a newer EVM version, so set it explicitly.

## Supported upgrades

Checked against both networks on 2026-10-01.

| EIP | What it does | Status on BOT Chain |
| - | - | - |
| [EIP-1559](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-1559) | Type 2 transactions with a base fee and a priority fee | Supported. The base fee was 0 in every block we checked. See [Gas and fees](/get-started/bot-chain/gas-and-fees). |
| [EIP-3855](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-3855) | `PUSH0` opcode (Shanghai) | Supported |
| [EIP-1153](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-1153) | Transient storage, `TLOAD` and `TSTORE` (Cancun) | Supported |
| [EIP-5656](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-5656) | `MCOPY` opcode (Cancun) | Supported |
| [EIP-4844](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-4844) | Blob transactions (type 3), `BLOBHASH` and `BLOBBASEFEE` | Supported in the original EIP-4844 format only, not the newer EIP-7594 format. See the [Blob API](/reference/json-rpc/blob-api#send-a-blob-transaction). |
| [EIP-2537](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-2537) | BLS12-381 precompiles (Prague) | Supported |
| [EIP-2935](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-2935) | Historical block hashes in state (Prague) | Supported |
| [EIP-7702](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7702) | Type 4 transactions that let an EOA delegate to contract code (Prague) | Supported. On testnet on 2026-10-02 we delegated an EOA to a contract and cleared it again with type 4 transactions. BOTScan shows the authorizations. |
| [EIP-7939](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7939) | `CLZ` opcode (Osaka) | Not supported |

Don't use `block.prevrandao` (or the older `block.difficulty`) for randomness. On BOT Chain it returns the Parlia block difficulty, which was `2` in every block we checked on 2026-10-01. Use an oracle if your app needs random numbers.

## Check it yourself

Ask the node for the latest block and look at the fields. `baseFeePerGas` shows EIP-1559, `blobGasUsed` and `excessBlobGas` show EIP-4844, and `requestsHash` shows Prague.

```bash theme={"dark"}
cast block latest --rpc-url https://rpc.bohr.life
```
