# Ponder starter

> A planned Ponder indexer starter for BOT Chain, which needs an RPC with eth_getLogs.

Learn what the planned Ponder starter for BOT Chain will include and why it isn't available yet.

## What it will be

A starter project for [Ponder](https://ponder.sh), an open-source TypeScript framework for indexing EVM events into a database you can query. The starter is planned to come with BOT Chain testnet and mainnet already configured, so you add your contract's ABI and address and start indexing.

## Why it isn't available yet

Ponder reads events with `eth_getLogs`. BOT Chain documents that method as disabled on its public RPCs, and unbounded ranges failed in our tests. An indexer that backfills from a contract's deployment block needs a reliable logs-enabled RPC. The starter depends on [Uzo RPC](/infrastructure/rpc/overview), which is also planned.

## What to use meanwhile

* For history, read decoded logs from the [BOTScan API](/guides/data/explorer-api).
* For recent events, use [chunked `eth_getLogs`](/get-started/bot-chain/known-limitations#event-queries).
* If you run your own BOT Chain node, its RPC has no public limits, and you can point an indexer at it. See [Index chain data](/guides/data/indexing).
