# Status and limits

> Reference for the planned getBridgeStatus, getBridgeLimits and getBotGasConfig functions.

The planned status and limits functions will tell you whether the bridge is open and how much you can send before you build a deposit. You can read all of it today from the bridge router with viem.

<Warning>
  **In development.** This describes the planned API. It is not published yet and details may change. Follow progress on [GitHub](https://github.com/uzolabs).

## Planned functions

The names come from the SDK plan. Parameters and return types aren't final. Each will read from the bridge router at `getAddresses(chainId).bridgeRouter`.

### getBridgeStatus

Will report whether the bridge is paused, from the router's `getBridgePause()`. Don't send a deposit while it returns `true`.

### getBridgeLimits

Will return the limits from the router: `getMinAmountUsd()`, `getMaxAmountUsd()` and `getMinFee()`, which are whole USDT, plus the per-destination fee in basis points from the bridge contract's `chainAndTokenFee`. On 2026-10-02 both networks had a 10 USDT minimum, a 1 USDT minimum fee and a 0.1% fee. The maximum was 50000 USDT on testnet and 30150 USDT on mainnet. Always read the live values.

### getBotGasConfig

Will return the router's "bot gas" settings, from `getBotGasConfig()`. Bot gas is an option for transfers **into** BOT Chain: when it's used, part of the USDT that arrives is swapped for a small, fixed amount of BOT and sent to the recipient, so a new wallet has gas for its first transaction. See [Bot gas](/sdk/bridge/build-deposit#bot-gas) for how it works.

`getBotGasConfig()` returns a config and an `enabled` flag:

<ResponseField name="cfg.destinationChainId" type="uint256">
  The chain where bot gas is paid out. This is BOT Chain itself: `677` on mainnet, `968` on testnet.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="cfg.resourceId" type="bytes32">
  The token bot gas applies to. On both networks it's [`USDT_RESOURCE_ID`](/sdk/contracts/constants#usdt_resource_id).
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="cfg.amount" type="uint256">
  The BOT paid out, in wei. On 2026-10-02 this was 0.1 BOT on mainnet and 1 tBOT on testnet.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="cfg.oracle" type="address">
  The price oracle used to work out how much USDT the BOT costs.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="cfg.baseToken / cfg.quoteToken" type="address">
  The pair the oracle prices: WBOT and USDT on both networks.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="cfg.twapWindow" type="uint32">
  The time-weighted average price window, in seconds: 1800 on mainnet and 300 on testnet on 2026-10-02.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="enabled" type="bool">
  Whether bot gas is switched on. It was `true` on both networks on 2026-10-02.
</ResponseField>

## Do it today

The [Limits and fees](/guides/bridge/limits-and-fees) guide reads the pause state, limits, fees and destinations in one tested script. To read the bot gas config as well:

```ts bot-gas-config.ts theme={"dark"}
import { createPublicClient, formatEther, http } from "viem";
import { botChain } from "@uzolabs/sdk/chains";
import { botBridgeAbi, getAddresses } from "@uzolabs/sdk/contracts";
const client = createPublicClient({ chain: botChain, transport: http() });
const [cfg, enabled] = await client.readContract({
  address: getAddresses(botChain.id).bridgeRouter,
  abi: botBridgeAbi,
  functionName: "getBotGasConfig",
});
console.log(`Bot gas ${enabled ? "on" : "off"}: ${formatEther(cfg.amount)} BOT on chain ${cfg.destinationChainId}, TWAP ${cfg.twapWindow}s`);
```

```text Output theme={"dark"}
Bot gas on: 0.1 BOT on chain 677, TWAP 1800s
```

This only reads data, so it's safe to run against mainnet.
