| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| ABI | Application binary interface. A JSON description of a contract’s functions and events, used by libraries to encode calls. |
| BDEX | BOT Chain’s decentralized exchange, with V2 and V3 pools. Shown as “B DEX” in some places. See BDEX API. |
| BEP | BNB Evolution Proposal. BOT Chain’s consensus follows several BEPs, such as BEP-126 and BEP-341. |
| Blob | A large chunk of data attached to a type 3 transaction (EIP-4844). See Blob API. |
| Block tag | A name for a block in RPC calls: latest, safe, finalized, earliest or pending. |
| BOT | The native token of BOT Chain mainnet. It pays for gas. 18 decimals. |
| BOT Chain | An EVM-compatible blockchain with Parlia consensus. Mainnet is chain 677, testnet is chain 968. See What is BOT Chain. |
| BOTScan | BOT Chain’s block explorer, built on Blockscout. See Explorer API. |
| Bridge | The BOT Chain service that moves assets, such as USDT, between BOT Chain and other chains. See the bridge guide. |
| Chain ID | A number that identifies a network and stops a transaction signed for one network being replayed on another. |
| EOA | Externally owned account. An account controlled by a private key, as opposed to a contract. |
| EVM version | The set of opcodes a compiler targets, named after Ethereum upgrades such as cancun and prague. |
| Faucet | A site that gives out free testnet tokens. See Get testnet tokens. |
| FFG | Friendly finality gadget. The voting process that finalizes blocks on BOT Chain. |
| Finalized block | A block that can’t be reverted without a large share of validators breaking the rules. See Consensus and finality. |
| Gas | The unit for the work a transaction does. You pay gas used times gas price. See Gas and fees. |
| Gateway | The bridge contract on a chain connected to BOT Chain. See Contract addresses. |
| gwei | One billionth of a BOT. Gas prices are usually quoted in gwei. |
| JSON-RPC | The API wallets and libraries use to talk to a node. See JSON-RPC. |
| Keystore | An encrypted file that holds a private key, unlocked with a password. Foundry’s cast wallet new creates one. |
| Meta-transaction | A message a user signs off chain, which a relayer submits and pays gas for. See Meta-transactions. |
| Multicall3 | A contract that bundles many read calls into one. On BOT Chain, use 0x47FA21f684bBAD707A53a0f9BE59F1422F46C265. |
| Parlia | The consensus engine BOT Chain uses, taken from BNB Smart Chain. Validators take turns producing blocks. |
| Paymaster | A service that pays gas for users’ transactions. See EOA paymaster. |
| Permit2 | A contract that manages token approvals with signatures. Used by the BDEX UniversalRouter. |
| Relayer | A server that submits transactions on users’ behalf and pays the gas. See Run a relayer. |
| Resource ID | A 32-byte value the BOT Chain bridge uses to identify an asset across chains. |
| RPC endpoint | A URL that accepts JSON-RPC requests. See Networks. |
| Sidecar | The blob data that travels with a blob transaction. |
| tBOT | The native token of BOT Chain testnet. Free from the faucet, with no real-world value. BOTScan and the faucet show its symbol as BOT. |
| Testnet | A network for testing, with free tokens. BOT Chain’s testnet is chain 968. |
| Uzo | Igbo for road, path or way. Also the name of these docs and the tools built around them. |
| Uzo Index | A planned Uzo service for indexed events. See Uzo Index. |
| Uzo RPC | A planned Uzo RPC service. See Uzo RPC. |
| Validator | A node that produces and votes on blocks. |
| Verification | Publishing a contract’s source code on BOTScan so anyone can read it and check it matches the deployed code. |
| WBOT | Wrapped BOT. An ERC-20 token backed one to one by BOT, at 0xD5452816194a3784dBa983426cCe7c122F4abd30 on both networks. |
